The weather may not be preparing us for summer, but the Born Ruffians sure are. Say It, is the Toronto-based trio’s sophomore album charged with playful melodies and upbeat guitar riffs that’d make any drive fun with the top down. Still, underlying the light indie pop are lyrics of relationship and communication issues.
“That’s our new philosophy, to talk about things before they happen, so we know that we’re on the same page,” explained Luke Lalonde in an interview with Stereogum. And voila, the title naturally fell into place.
Considering the full length album only took two weeks to record, the Born Ruffians surprisingly sustain a controlled sound that they plan to take on tour, starting in just a couple of days. Help them Say It on June 4th at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, open to all ages!
